Where books and music meet.

OUR MISSION

Noteworm Media celebrates Canadian authors and musicians by sharing their bios. "Note" represents both note paper and music notes. "Worm" is inspired by "bookworm" — for those who love to read.

We are new to this space. Stayed tuned for more content...

Even on rainy days, we create.

What do authors and musicians have in common? We are creators and what you see from us is a finished piece of writing or a song, with countless hours of creative energy and work behind it. Every book and song starts as tiny seed called an" idea". We might be inspired by something we see, a word we hear or a life-changing event. A vision comes to mind and we work with it. Not all ideas are followed through to completion, like a seed that can't grow, but the ones that are strong are developed with great care.

How to support musicians?

1) buy digital music.

2) buy tickets for live shows.

3) buy merchandise such as vinyl, shirts, etc.

4) stream their music and share. Add their music to social media posts, reels and stories. It costs nothing, but helps them build their audience.

5) give them a follow on all platforms. It costs nothing, but helps with their numbers.

How to support authors?

1) Buy digital and hard copy books.

2) Share their work! If you have nice things to say, write them a review on your socials.

Meet Monica Ng

Founder of Noteworm Media, Writer and Author

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Monica is based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario.

Like Spiderman was bitten by a spider, Monica was bitten a bug too – in Grade 10 – the creative bug – but the clear difference between their bug bites is that she does not possess the glorified ability to dangle from webs or scale buildings. Her deeply embedded bug makes it impossible for her to stop writing.

For decades, Monica dreamed of publishing a book. Her passion for nature and adventure as well as her love for Canada, inspired her first three children’s books: My Great Canadian Adventure and the first two books of her Winter Moose series in 2018/2019. Fun fact: she took a class to learn Adobe Illustrator so she could translate the images in her mind into digital form.

Monica just published a fiction novel, A Time to Wear My Shoes, based on her mother and grandmother’s lives when she sought to understand why her mother disowned her own mother. Why did she refuse to be by her mother’s side on her deathbed? This novella will be available soon.

How about poetry? She’s got you covered. A fresh release of her sad poetry collection, Sitting in Darkness: Poetry from a Soon-to-Be Ex-Wife. The title is a mouthful, but the short collection dares to tickle the darkest human emotions and feelings when the world she knew was flipped upside down.

In recent years, Monica experienced a life-changing “awakening” as she embarked on a long metaphorical journey to find herself and self-love. She was at a point in her life where she questioned everything that she knew. A photo of herself lying in the chalk outline painted on the cement at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto, inspired her to write her own obituary, which in turn inspired the writing of a self-empowerment book.

With a degree in sociology and driven by her passion for sharing and helping people, she published oBITCHuary – a Self-Guided Empowerment Book for Bitches

Monica's love for writing and music inspired the creation of Noteworm Media, her own publishing company with a mission to create a webspace for the community of underrepresented Canadian writers and musicians.

Meet Static Mike

IG: @staticmikemusic

Musician/Drummer

With "boldness never seen", Toronto-based Static Mike brings back nostalgic 50s, 60s and 70s vibes with a fresh twist...performing solo on drums.

Writing songs as early as Mike can remember and picking up his first drumsticks at age 11, he knew that music was his life. Influenced by the beats of John Bonham and Peter Criss, Mike challenges himself to create a unique blend of timeless tunes and modern drumbeats.

Many bands later, Mike got tired of his drums "being lost in the mix" and decided to pursue his vision for Static Mike. He's famous for generating tons of static electricity, getting and giving electric shocks everywhere he goes, so watch out...he may shock you delightfully with his music.

Themes of heartbreak and love wrapped into songs that you'll soon find buzzing in your head. Put on your fancy shoes and prepare to shake your body!

Check out his debut releases: Butterfly Kiss and Waiting. Give him a follow on IG!
